Rage control

These days rage, aggressiveness, violent reactions are common while we drive, and various studies say they tend to increase. These habits, acquired during childhood learnt while kids go in the back seat, observing what their driver parents do and react. These behavior ways distort the attitudes from what is really dangerous and are the ones that inculcate the kids with an aggressive way to drive as a rule.
The term "road rage" is often heard, which explains the violent and aggressive behavior against other drivers. There are different grades of this behavior, there are cases known where a driver enraged pursues another, showing him he made a mistake. This kind of reaction can end in a discussion or even the usage of deadly weapons.
Other examples of road rage is to diminish speed in order of not letting other drivers pass us if they want to go faster, cutting off someone's way, tailgating the car ahead of him, etc.
Although many of us have experienced this kind of situations when it was difficult to control ourselves while driving, generally the ones that usually show their aggression on roads are men, mostly young. The reasons for this aggression vary also. It is believed that these improper answers are related to fatigue, stress, worries, pressures, etc. There is a wide range of techniques that help to effectively control emotions when driving, but also it is needed an attitude change.
Drivers highly depend one from another to coordinate our actions. Emotions answering intelligently will help to think about our limitations and to recognize our weak points. Proper training will in fact contribute to prevent this scourge of our roads.

The importance of the engine's torque when driving
Part 1

Torque is one of the few most important parameters for an alternative combustion engine. However, what is its influence while we drive? To answer this question correctly we must understand what the torque is and we will deduce its importance.
When we ride a bicycle, our legs exert force on the pedals, which later will be transmitted to the wheel to make the bike advance. On the same way for an alternative engine, the pressure caused by the combustion will act over the pistons, which with the connecting rods and the crankshaft; will transform this pressure in a revolving movement which later will be transferred to the wheels.
In bicycles, the force will be done by the legs, while in engines the pistons will exert the force. In fact, the unit of measurement used for torque is newtons/meter or kilogram/meter, so this confirms is a special kind of lever. When this lever is applied in the tractor wheels, it will make the vehicle move. The usually used "power" is the torque multiplied by the turning speed product.
In a bicycle, the force will be done by the legs, while in the engine the pistons will exert the force. In bikes, the necessary effort to ascend a slope is not the same needed for a plain road; in a vehicle this does not vary. Furthermore, the running conditions add extra factors, such as the aerodynamic resistance, for example.
The concept is complete when we considerate that the engine's torque varies with the RPM. This leads us to the important concept of engine's elasticity. As longer the torque is equal during a certain range of revolutions, more elastic will be the engine, and i.e. it will have a higher capacity to confront diverse types of load conditions without using the gear box.
However the lack of elasticity is noticed more in some engines than others, it will be too simple trying to classify engines according to a sole characteristic, and estimating how elastic they can be, due to the fact that the torque curve is influenced by other factors, such as if it works on gas or diesel, if it is compressed or aspirated and a wide list of mechanic variables, such as the surface and the pistons track, among others. Nevertheless, it is very useful to know the specific characteristics of the vehicle we are driving.
On next editions, we will continue with different concepts related to the engine's elasticity in order to drive at the best gear change.
